Kyodo Yushi engineer presented at the 18th International Colloquium Tribology

Kyodo Yushi engineer presented a paper on Magneto-Rheological Grease at a plenary session (presentation of research papers recognized for their academic excellence) of the 18th International Colloquium Tribology held at Technische Akademie Esslingen in Germany from 10 to 12 January, 2012. Held every two years, the International Colloquium Tribology is the Europefs largest conference on tribology, where over 600 engineers participate from all over the world. The study on magnetorheological grease is carried out jointly with Yokohama National University under the gComprehensive Support Programs for Creation of Regional Innovationh (by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). In addition to having the advantage of being able to control magnetic particle sedimentation for a longer time than magnetorheological fluid, the developed grease is unique in that shear stress is greatly increased instantly when the grease is subjected to a magnetic field. Shear stress can be controlled by varying the magnetic field intensity, which gives rise to a variety of possible applications such as power transmission and vibration absorption. This innovative technology gained the attention of researchers from around the world.

The 2nd China-Japan Advanced Forum on Tribology

The 2nd China-Japan Advanced Forum on Tribology was held in Luoyang, Henan China, from the 15th to the 18th April, 2011 (hosted by Japanese Society of Tribologist and Tribology Institute of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society), following on from the first event held at Iwate University in Morioka in July 2010. Researchers and engineers of Japan and China working in the relevant field gathered together, and gave presentations on the current tribological activities. Four Kyodo Yushi engineers attended the forum, and gave the keynote speech titled, gUrea Grease - New Horizon of Grease Lubrication.h This time there were a larger number of Chinese participants, and it was felt that technological development and growing interest in the field of tribology are taking place in China.

The 4th World Tribology Congress (WTC 2009) conveyed a strong message to people both at home and abroad that Tribology is the key to technical innovations in the 21st century.

The 4th World Tribology Congress (WTC 2009) was held at Kyoto International Conference Center for six days from the 6th to the 11th September, 2009. This largest and the first WTC in the Asia-Pacific region focused basically on such themes as ecology, economy and energy, and attracted more than 1,400 registered participants from 60 countries, the most in its history. Nearly 900 technical presentations were given. At the Kyoto International Conference Center Event Hall, technical exhibition was held with the concept of gEnergy Conservation / Eco Technologies in the World - Messages for the Next Generation,h where tribology-related products and technologies were demonstrated from many fields such as automobiles, electronics, machinery, lubricants and testing/measuring equipment. The exhibition was open to the public and had over 7,000 visitors including elementary, junior high and high school students. It provided an excellent opportunity for many people to feel a closer connection to the tribology.

Kyodo Yushi gave six presentations, held a luncheon seminar, participated in symposia and set up a booth introducing our technical development projects and technologies. We were very pleased to have welcomed so many visitors.

We would like to sincerely thank all who participated in the WTC 2009.
